Red Devils win Gold in Armed Forces Championships

A five man team from the Red Devils won Gold at this year's Armed Forces Championships in the Canopy Formation 'Rotations' category. The discipline involves team members stacking their parachutes on top of one another before taking it in turns to 'rotate' from the top of the stack to the bottom ! This highly dangerous manouvere is one the team took in their stride - as canopy formations are an integral part of their world famous displays.

The event brings together competition teams from all three services (Army, RAF & Navy) and is hosted every August at the Joint Services Parachute Centre in Netheravon, Wiltshire - also home to the Red Devils.

The trophy was presented by Edward Gardner - Founder of the Parachute Regiment Free Fall Team in 1964 (later to become the Red Devils). The five team members were (left to right):

Lance Corporal Gav Tuckley (Camera)
Sergeant Jay Webster
Private Danny Wood
Corporal Dan Schmidt
